The websites allow players to bet on fantasy sports teams, claiming it involves skill and thus gets around gambling laws. How do DFS sites work?
In traditional fantasy sports leagues, people draft their teams before the season, maintaining the same core roster for months. Once the games are over, DraftKings and FanDuel calculate a score and pay bettors that have the highest total number of points, minus the companies’ average cut, which is around 6.5 percent.
