This past Saturday, HGD Law Firm was honored to serve as a Platinum Sponsor for the 9th Annual Beer, Band & BBQ fundraiser, hosted by the Alabama Head Injury Foundation (AHiF) at Brock's Gap Brewing Company in Hoover, Alabama. The event brought together community members for an evening of live music from the WD Band, mouthwatering barbecue from Rodney Scott’s BBQ, and—most importantly—a shared purpose: supporting Alabamians affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI).
About AHiF: A Lifeline for Survivors of Brain Injury
Founded in 1983, the Alabama Head Injury Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for survivors of traumatic brain injury and their families. With a mission grounded in advocacy, education, and direct support services, AHiF plays a critical role in helping individuals navigate the complex challenges that often follow a brain injury.
AHiF provides:
- Resource coordination to connect clients with essential services
- Support groups and individualized emotional support
- Educational programs to raise awareness about brain injury prevention and recovery
- Emergency assistance to help with housing, transportation, and medical needs
- Community reentry programs that empower survivors to regain independence and purpose
One of the most moving parts of the Beer, Band & BBQ event was an art exhibit showcasing works created by AHiF clients. Each piece told a story—visual expressions of life after brain injury, filled with honesty, hope, and resilience.
HGD’s Deep Roots with AHiF
At HGD Law Firm, our commitment to AHiF goes well beyond sponsorship. It’s personal and enduring.
Brandy Robertson, HGD partner, serves as Secretary/Treasurer on the AHiF Board of Directors, contributing her time and leadership to help steer the foundation’s vision. Erik Heninger, another HGD partner, has been a steadfast board member, passionately advocating for survivors and raising awareness across the state.
Over the years, HGD has supported AHiF through sponsorships, community outreach, and hands-on involvement with events and programs that directly benefit individuals and families dealing with traumatic brain injury. As personal injury attorneys, we see firsthand how life-altering these injuries can be. Our support of AHiF reflects our broader mission—to stand beside our clients and our community when they need it most.
Why It Matters
Traumatic brain injuries can affect anyone at any time. From car accidents and workplace injuries to sports and falls, the impact is often sudden—and the recovery journey is long and uncertain. Organizations like AHiF are vital in bridging the gap between medical treatment and meaningful recovery.
At HGD, we believe in fighting for the injured, not just in courtrooms but in communities. Supporting AHiF is one way we live out our values: client-centered, Integrity-Driven, Resilient, Committed, Leadership-Oriented, and Excellence-Focused.
Looking Ahead
We are proud to stand with AHiF and look forward to continuing our partnership in the years to come. To learn more about the Alabama Head Injury Foundation and how you can support its mission, visit www.ahif.org.
