HGD congratulates Steve and Erik Heninger, father and son attorneys, on being named to the Top 50 Lawyers in the State of Alabama by Super Lawyers for the third year.
For over four decades, Steve has not only represented clients in courtrooms throughout this state, but has also passed on to members of our bar his wealth of knowledge in trial advocacy. Steve has served as the President of the Birmingham Bar Association (1998), President of the Alabama Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and as a member of the Alabama Supreme Court Advisory Committee on appellate practice for fifteen years. Steve is a frequent lecturer and teacher for the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, teaching at such places as Harvard School of Law, Stanford, Georgetown, University of Wisconsin, University of Miami, and University of New Mexico.

He has been listed in Woodward & Whites “Best Lawyers in America” for the past ten years, and he has tried twenty-one (21) cases resulting in verdicts over seven figures. He recently was inducted into the Alabama Law Foundation, which limits its invitations to the top one percent of the Bar in Alabama. Additionally, Steve has been selected to Super Lawyers Top 50 in Alabama every year since 2009.
Erik is far along a similar path, having recently been elected by his peers to serve as an officer in the Alabama Association for Justice and to serve as a commissioner of the Alabama Bar Association. As part of his Commissioner responsibilities, Erik sits on the Alabama State Bar Character & Fitness Committee and the Disciplinary Rules & Enforcement Committee. Finally, he has been a member of the Birmingham Bar Executive Committee since 2016. Erik is “AV Preeminent” Rated by Martindale-Hubbell – the highest possible distinction conferred by both professional peers and judges. In 2013, he was inducted as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an invitation only organization committed to preserving the right to trial by jury. His favorite professional experiences include being a part of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum, Leadership Vestavia Hills and Leadership Birmingham.
