June 2018:
Two members of the HGD team were recently selected to leadership roles at the Downtown Birmingham YMCA. HGD Firm Administrator, Tzena Gauldin, has been selected to join the Advisory Board and attorney Jeanie Sleadd has been selected to serve as secretary for the Advisory Board for the Downtown YMCA Branch. Other new leadership selections include Jonathan Little, new Advisory Board Member, and the following new officers: Kim Ayers – Past Chair; Ty West – Chair; and Guillermo Araoz – Vice Chair.
The YMCA of Greater Birmingham is a charitable organization dedicated to making our community a healthier place to live. Across Jefferson and Shelby Counties, 14 Ys engage more than 60,000 men, women, and children – regardless of age, income or background – to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation’s health and well-being, and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors.
Thanks to the Birmingham Y’s donors, policy-making volunteers, and program volunteers, no one is turned away from the YMCA for inability to pay. Approximately 22% of member families receive financial assistance, with subsidies as high as 95%. With long-standing relationships and physical presence, the YMCA is able to not just promise but to deliver lasting personal and social change. The Y believes that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve.
In communities across the Greater Birmingham area, the Y is a leading voice on health and well-being. With a mission centered on balance, the Y encourages good health, brings families together, and fosters connections through fitness, sports, and other shared interests.
Whether developing skills or emotional well-being through education and training, welcoming and connecting diverse demographic populations through global services, or preventing chronic disease and building healthier communities through collaborations with other local agencies, the Y fosters the care and respect all people need and deserve.
HGD law firm is proud to be a part of supporting the YMCA and is committed to be involved and support the Birmingham community.
