HGD is proud to announce that attorney Jeanie Sleadd has been recognized as one of Birmingham’s Philanthropy Trailblazers in this month’s issue of AboutTown magazine.
Jeanie works with HGD’s community partner, Birmingham Education Foundation (Ed), on a variety of projects throughout the year. She is also a member of Rotaract, where in addition to community service, she has served as a mentor to Parker High School Students for the last four years.
Jeanie serves as President of the Birmingham-Southern Young Alumni Council which seeks to engage and serve the most recent graduates with programs and communications that are uniquely tailored to their needs and perspectives.
Motivation:
Jeanie says, “Both of my parents are teachers and have been for a combined 65 years. I’ve seen the marvelous impact they’ve had on their students. They’ve shared with me all the wonderful things they’ve seen an education do for a child, and also all the hardship, heartbreak, and frustration that come with the job. I’m passionate about improving our education systems, both on a local and national level, because I truly believe education is a right and also a vehicle for the betterment of the individual and our society.”
Congratulations on the recognition, Jeanie! We are all proud of the important work you are doing to help improve the Birmingham community.
