Heninger Garrison Davis (HGD) recently hosted a “Food for Thought” session for its employees, continuing its tradition of fostering connection, learning, and well-being within the team. This quarterly initiative is designed to engage employees with meaningful discussions that inspire personal and professional growth.
The event featured a special presentation by Dr. Megan Hays, an Associate Professor and Clinical Psychologist from UAB’s Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the Heersink School of Medicine. Dr. Hays, who also serves as the Director of Wellness Education for UAB Medicine’s Office of Wellness, delivered a timely and impactful talk on “Beating the Burnout”—a topic particularly relevant during this busy time of year.

Dr. Hays shared strategies for finding joy in both work and life, offering insights tailored to the legal profession. She acknowledged the unique challenges faced by legal professionals and support staff, who often encounter secondary trauma while assisting clients who have experienced significant injuries and hardships. Her presentation included practical approaches to navigating stress, building resilience, and fostering mindfulness, empowering employees to embrace a healthier, more balanced perspective.
The session served as a valuable reminder of the importance of prioritizing mental health and well-being, particularly in high-stress, emotionally charged industries. Employees left with actionable tools to cultivate positivity and purpose, both professionally and personally.
HGD’s Food for Thought series exemplifies the firm’s commitment to its employees, recognizing that a supported and engaged team is vital to achieving shared success. By bringing in thought leaders like Dr. Hays, HGD reinforces its dedication to creating a thriving, supportive workplace for its staff.
