On October 11, Heninger Garrison Davis will kickoff its 3rd annual “In Summation” closing argument competition in the newly dedicated Stephen D. Heninger Moot Courtroom. The event, which is held for students currently attending Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law and Birmingham School of Law, is geared towards encouraging advocacy and providing aspiring attorneys with a valuable learning opportunity. Twenty individuals will compete in the tournament, with the first round taking place October 11 and 12 and the finals on October 18. Each participant will be given a trial problem and asked to present a closing argument before a mock jury that may include judges, lawyers, and laypersons. While the top 4 participants will receive a commemorative plaque, cash prizes of up to $1000 will be awarded to the top three individuals with the highest scores.
