On Friday, April 30, hundreds of Alabama lawyers visited classrooms across the state to teach civics and the importance of the Rule of Law. Among those hundreds were several attorneys from HGD. Officially proclaimed
by Governor Kay Ivey for the state of Alabama, Law Day, which celebrates the rule of law, provides an opportunity to understand how law and the legal process protect our liberty, strives to achieve justice, and contributes to the freedoms that all Americans share. Celebrated nationally, there is a new theme each year, and this year’s theme is, Advancing the Rule of Law Now.
Alabama Law Day is sponsored by the Alabama State Bar’s Lawyer in Every Classroom Committee. Steve Heninger, Anna Carroll, Lee Gresham, Callen Sparrow, Chris Hood, and Brandy Robertson were among HGD’s attorneys who spent their day on Friday educating classrooms of middle school students about the importance of the Rule of Law.

Brandy Robertson presented with attorney Brooks Burdette at Odenville Middle School to first and second-period history classes in Mr. Todd Bryant’s 6th grade. Lawyers in the Classroom Committee Chair Felicia Long said, “This year’s focus provides young people with the opportunity to learn about how the law affects our lives. Considering the current state of our nation, we can all imagine ways that the rule of law provides stability for a productive society while at the same time providing a vehicle for us to evolve and move forward together.”
