Although more than seven years have passed since this tragic homicide, Heninger Garrison Davis attorneys Jeff Leonard, Jeannie Sleadd and Amanda Williamson obtained a $1 million judgment for the mother of a boy who was killed in the 2010 Discovery Middle School shooting in Madison County, Alabama. Towanda Moore, mother of shooting victim Todd Brown, brought the civil suit against the shooter responsible for his death, Hammed Memon. Both Memon and Brown were 14-years-old at the time.
Madison County Judge Ruth Ann Hall made the following comments in the order: “The Court finds that Plaintiff is entitled to an award of punitive damages for her claims against Defendant Hammed Memon for the wrongful death of Plaintiff’s decedent, Todd Brown,” the order reads. The Court further found that “that damages are due to be awarded the Plaintiff in the amount of one million dollars ($1,000,000.00).”
