The HGD Atlanta team participated in Service Juris Day on July 29th at the Elm Street Urban Farm in Atlanta. Organized by Hands on Atlanta, the HGD team volunteered with members from the law firm of Arnall Golden Gregory. The group worked to finish building a greenhouse and built benches for around the garden area. Additionally, they weeded the garden, and planted and harvested lots of tasty veggies. The team enjoyed the day working in the garden and plans to participate again.

The Elm Street Urban Farm is a 9,735 Sq. feet vegetable garden in the heart of downtown Atlanta. It was developed through a partnership between Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority and Friends of English Avenue with the primary goal of improving access to fresh produce for residents of English Ave, some of whom suffer from food insecurity. Although a small portion of the produce is sold to local markets and shops to improve sustainability, nearly 90% of the fruits and vegetables that are grown there are donated to less fortunate members of the community as well as the Lindsey Street Baptist Church for disbursement to those in need.
