Specifically, the Plaintiff was admitted to the hospital to undergo a surgical procedure. During her pre-operative evaluation, hospital nurses and staff members negligently recorded Plaintiff’s lab test results as being negative for pregnancy, when in fact, the Plaintiff was well into her first trimester. These inaccurate pre-operative test results were subsequently provided to the surgeon in the operating room, who continued with the procedure which he otherwise would not have performed had he known the Plaintiff was pregnant. As a result of the surgical procedure, the Plaintiff was exposed to a number of drugs and anesthetics which ultimately caused the death of her fetus.
